Martyna Kulec was born in Leżajsk, Poland and immigrated to the United States at only eleven months old. She is a graduate of Hunter College, having completed a major in Biology with a concentration in Behavioral Neurobiology and a minor in Public Health. She is currently working as a medical assistant in an OBGYN practice and intends to matriculate into medical school, furthering her dream and lifelong ambition of becoming an OBGYN.
As a student at Henryk Sienkiewicz Polish Supplementary School, she earned the highest grades among her peers and received prestigious awards for her representation of Polish culture, language and tradition. For the first time in her schools’ history, Martyna won first place in the PATA Annual Storytelling Contest hosted by the Kosciuszko Foundation for her presentation of “The Eye of the Sea” in the Highlander dialect. After graduating, Martyna returned to her Polish school as a teaching assistant, volunteering every Saturday with the next generation of Polish Americans to instill the need for kindling the flame of patriotism.
Today, Martyna volunteers as a translator and commentator for one of the largest Protestant television platforms in Poland, Go Against the Tide TV, which broadcasts to thousands of viewers around the world. She appears as a guest speaker on weekly programs, providing coverage of current socio-political news in the United States to Polish audiences. She also translates Polish Evangelical films to English so that the Gospel can reach people worldwide.
Martyna is deeply passionate about protecting immigrant rights and serving immigrant populations in NYC and in the United States. Being an undocumented immigrant herself, she understands just how difficult it is to endure without the luxury of citizenship. Currently, Martyna volunteers with the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs to ensure that immigrants entering this city have access to nutrition, healthcare, housing, education and employment opportunities.
Martyna is fluent in Polish and English, proficient in Spanish and is currently studying Turkish and French.
