On March 19, 2026, the Polish Youth Association, in collaboration with the Junior Polish American Medical Society, hosted a vital CPR Certification Course for the community. Held at the Polish National Alliance headquarters in Chicago, this free, PNA-sponsored event provided participants with essential life-saving skills, empowering them to act confidently in emergency situations.

The CPR Certification Course gave participants hands-on training in CPR techniques, including chest compressions and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Beyond learning life-saving techniques, the event also served as a valuable networking opportunity, allowing young professionals and students to meet like-minded peers. Participants shared their experiences and aspirations while reinforcing the importance of community engagement and support.

A key element of the event was the expert-led instruction; These instructors not only guided participants through the technical aspects of CPR, but also emphasized the emotional and psychological readiness required in emergencies. Attendees were encouraged to practice their skills in a safe, supportive environment, ensuring that they would feel prepared and confident if ever faced with a real-life emergency.

In addition to the practical skills learned during the CPR Certification Course, participants were educated on the importance of remaining calm and composed in emergency situations. The instructors stressed the psychological aspect of responding to an emergency, emphasizing that a clear mind and focused actions can be the difference between life and death. This vital lesson reinforced the significance of staying calm under pressure and helped participants build confidence in their ability to act quickly and effectively when it matters most.

The event also focused on the importance of staying updated on health-related certifications. Many of the participants expressed interest in taking further courses in first aid and emergency response, recognizing that these skills are not only valuable for their personal safety but also essential in supporting the well-being of their families and communities.

As part of our organization’s ongoing efforts to create community-oriented programs, the CPR certification event also highlighted the association's commitment to public health and community preparedness. The course reinforced the notion that life-saving skills are not just for healthcare professionals but for everyone. By providing such training, the association helps build a more prepared, resilient community, one that values the safety and well-being of its members.

The event concluded with participants receiving their CPR certifications, adding an important credential to their resumes while ensuring they are prepared to assist in emergencies. The Polish Youth Association continues to prioritize initiatives that help young people build valuable skills while fostering a sense of responsibility and community.
