On May 1, 2026, the Polish Youth Association welcomed Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, to Chicago for a special meeting with young members of the Polish-American community at the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra Center. This meeting was accomplished through collaboration with the Polish Youth Advisory Council by the marshall of the senate, with Director General Monica Lebensztejn serving as a member. The gathering offered a rare and impactful opportunity for Chicagoland youth to engage directly with one of Poland’s highest-ranking public officials in a discussion centered on leadership, civic participation, and the future of the global Polish diaspora.

The event reflected a broader vision shared by both Poland’s leadership and emerging diaspora organizations: strengthening the connection between young Poles abroad and the institutions, initiatives, and civic life shaping contemporary Poland. At a time when youth engagement is increasingly recognized as essential to the future of Polonia, the conversation served as an important reminder that the next generation has a meaningful role to play in preserving heritage while actively contributing to Poland’s global presence.

A central focus of the meeting was how young Polish Americans can become more involved in Polish affairs and participate in initiatives that build international connections among members of the diaspora. Particular attention was given to Polonia Camp in Warsaw, an international gathering that brings together young leaders of Polish descent from around the world to exchange ideas, build lasting relationships, and deepen their connection to Poland’s civic and cultural landscape. By highlighting opportunities such as these, the event emphasized that engagement with Poland is no longer limited by geography, but strengthened through active participation, dialogue, and global collaboration.

One of the most impactful aspects of the afternoon was the interactive question-and-answer session, during which attendees were invited into direct conversation with Marshal Kidawa-Błońska. The open exchange created space for thoughtful discussion on leadership, youth involvement, and the evolving relationship between Poland and its communities abroad. More than a formal address, the meeting became a genuine dialogue, one that empowered young Polish Americans to see themselves not simply as observers of Polish affairs, but as active participants in shaping the future of global Polonia.

By convening conversations of this caliber, the Polish Youth Association continues to establish itself as a leading platform for youth engagement, professional development, and international connection within the Polish-American community. Hosting the Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland was not only a distinguished honor for the organization, but also a powerful signal that the voice of young Polonia is being recognized, cultivated, and invited to help shape what comes next.
